'Nigerians should let Obi finish southern term of Presidency' – Kwankwaso

The Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, presidential running mate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has explained why he “sacrificed” his political ambitions for the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

Kwankwaso explained that he made the sacrifice because Obi is trustworthy and comes from the Southern part of Nigeria.

Speaking during an interview with journalists at his home in Kano on Sunday, he said Nigerians should let Obi finish the Southern term of the Presidency.

He said: “I made a sacrifice for Peter Obi because he is credible and from the South. We have the same goals and beliefs. We are strong and can easily handle the country’s affairs.”

Kwankwaso also shared that he had run for president three times in a row but chose to stop his campaign so that the South could have Obi as its representative.

The leader of the Kwankwasiyya group emphasised that for the Nigerian system to be fair, Obi from the South should get the chance to lead the country.
