NFL training camp live updates for August 7: Highlights, injuries, news and more
The NFL preseason is officially underway with Thursday’s Hall of Fame Game kicking off the 2026 schedule.
The Carolina Panthers and Arizona Cardinals had their first taste of live game action, but for the 30 other teams, there’s another week of training camp as they get back together on the gridiron.
The road to Super Bowl 61 is a long and winding one and every team hopes to put the pieces together in August to set them up for a potential spot in the Big Game at SoFi Stadium in February.
Several massive contract extensions have come down in recent days. Notably, some of the league’s top running backs – Bijan Robinson, Jahmyr Gibbs and Jonathan Taylor – got paid.
Several players have already suffered season-ending injuries: San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Ricky Pearsall, Carolina Panthers rookie Chris Brazzell, Panthers second-year rusher Nic Scourton and New Orleans Saints defensive tackle Bryan Bresee. On Monday, Chicago Bears safety Coby Bryant suffered a knee injury that will keep him out eight to 10 weeks.
The quarterback battles to watch are Kyler Murray and J.J. McCarthy in Minnesota. Deshaun Watson and Shedeur Sanders in Cleveland. Michael Penix Jr. and Tua Tagovailoa in Atlanta and the veteran Kirk Cousins and No. 1 overall pick Fernando Mendoza in Las Vegas.
