NFL trade deadline: When do 49ers have to have deals done?
The San Francisco 49ers are off in Week 8, but will return to the field for a matchup with the Las Vegas Raiders before the upcoming NFL trade deadline.
San Francisco has already begun making moves, but with their sights set on making a run for a Super Bowl this postseason, the 49ers, led by general manager John Lynch, might be more willing to complete more trades in the next week or so.
Before the deadline arrives, here are all the key details for the 49ers as it approaches.
When is the NFL trade deadline?
The league’s trade deadline is 4:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday, November 10, 2026. Teams can agree to deal up until that point.
What trades have the 49ers made so far?
San Francisco has made just one trade leading up to the deadline, as they sent a 2027 fourth-round pick to the Indianapolis Colts to bring defensive lineman DeForest Buckner back to the 49ers, who drafted him back in 2016.
What needs to the 49ers have at the trade deadline?
San Francisco has a talented roster, but injuries have left them thin at several positions again. Wide receiver is probably still the biggest need on offense with Mike Evans and Deebo Samuel battling injuries and the trio of Ricky Pearsall, De’Zhaun Stribling and Demarcus Robinson on injured reserve.
Defensively, they could use more help on the edge, despite Nick Bosa expecting to return soon from injury. More depth in the secondary couldn’t hurt either.
Who could the 49ers trade for?
- WR Brian Thomas Jr.: The Jacksonville Jaguars‘ 2024 first-round pick was a Pro Bowler as a rookie, but has seemingly fallen out of favor in the offense, as he’s caught just nine passes for 105 yards and a touchdown in six games this year.
- WR Jauan Jennings: The former 49ers wideout left for a deal with the Minneosta Vikings this offseason, but he hasn’t been used the way he expected, catching just four passes for 43 yards in five games.
- DE Josh Sweat: After seven years with the Philadelphia Eagles, Sweat signed a four-year deal worth up to $76.4 million with the Arizona Cardinals last year and went on to record a career-high 12 sacks. This year, the 29-year-old has 16 tackles, four quarterback hits and two sacks in seven games.
- DE Khalil Mack: The 35-year-old is near the end of his career after making nine Pro Bowls and four All-Pro teams and winning Defensive Player of the Year once. He’s been with the Los Angeles Chargers since 2022, but in six games without a win this year, he’s recorded 19 tackles six quarterback hits and three sacks.
