Newport County to host Roma in pre-season

Newport County have confirmed a home pre-season friendly against Italian giants Roma.

The Exiles will face the Serie A side on Tuesday, 4 August at Rodney Parade in a high-profile warm-up for their 2026-27 League Two campaign.

Roma are heading to Wales at the end of July for an eight-day training camp and will face Cardiff City in a friendly on Saturday, 1 August.

County face AFC Wimbledon in the EFL Cup in their first competitive game of the season on 8 August.

They host Rochdale a week later on Saturday, 15 August in their opening match of the League Two campaign.

Chris Todd was appointed County’s caretaker manager following the departure of Christian Fuchs last month.
