New York Jets vs Tennessee Titans Game Thread

It’s finally here. After a long, long offseason, the New York Jets finally play a meaningful game again. All the speculation, all the hype, all the koolaid, all the doomsaying, it all comes to a head today when the actual games begin to supersede whatever your preconceived notions were about this 2026 New York Jets team. Today the Jets are on the road in a very hot Nashville, Tennessee to take on the Tennessee Titans to open the 2026 season for both teams.

Last year the New York Jets cleaned house after the Aaron Rodgers Experience ran its course and predictably resulted in everybody getting fired. This year the Jets thought that was so much fun, why not fire everyone again? And so they did, with Aaron Glenn replacing nearly the entire coaching staff after the 2025 Jets were in the conversation for the worst team in the NFL. In addition to bringing in an almost entirely new coaching staff, the Jets also brought in numerous veterans in free agency. The defense has been completely revamped, with key veteran additions Minkah Fitzpatrick, Dane Belton, Demario Davis, David Onyemata, T’Vondre Sweat, Kingsley Enagbare and the injured Joseph Ossai joined by premium draft picks David Bailey and D’Angelo Ponds. On the offense the Jets added Omar Cooper Jr and Kenyon Sadiq to complement Garrett Wilson as targets for the new starting quarterback, Geno Smith.

With all the changes, the 2026 Jets scarcely resemble the disastrous 2025 team. Will the result be a much more competitive team? We’ll begin to get the answer to that question today, against a Tennessee Titans team coached by old friend Robert Saleh. Saleh has stacked his team with double digit numbers of ex-Jets. We’ll see how that works out for him, starting today.
