New York Giants' Calvin Austin lll making big catches during minicamp

The New York Giants signed former Steelers wide receiver Calvin Austin III to a one-year deal earlier this offseason.

Austin is a talented route runner who never received a true opportunity to shine in Pittsburgh. The former Steeler has dealt with various injuries over the first three years of his NFL career, but he has nonetheless flashed serious potential on numerous occasions.

Austin will likely need to fight for a consistent role in the Giants’ offense in 2026. The talented receiver has reportedly been playing at an elite level during minicamp, earning credit for one of the top plays of the afternoon on the first day Monday.

Austin had another big completion from Dart on Tuesday, although the pass may have been broken up in live drills.

Both Dart and Austin will continue developing a connection on the gridiron as the offseason progresses. Dart has looked excellent over the first two days of minicamp in addition to Austin, and the duo will look to keep things rolling throughout the remainder of minicamp and training camp at the end of July. 

Austin could undoubtedly emerge as an underrated weapon on New York’s new-look offense in 2026, and the route runner appears to already be developing some serious chemistry with Dart.
