New 8-Part Horror Thriller Series Debuts To 1.3 Billion Minutes Viewed
The new horror series Crystal Lake is a massive hit for Peacock.
Created by Brad Caleb Kane, the show is part of the long-running Friday the 13th franchise that began in 1980 and continued on with 11 additional installments in the years since. The most recent film, a reboot, came out in 2009. There haven’t been any more sequels or projects set in this universe over the past 17 years, but that all changed with the eight-episode prequel series Crystal Lake, which was just released on October 15.
In the past 11 days, 1.3 billion minutes of Crystal Lake have been viewed, according to Deadline. This marks Peacock’s fourth-biggest scripted original series behind The Best Man: The Final Chapters, All Her Fault and The Five Star Weekend. Crystal Lake is proving to be popular on social media as well, with 1.8 billion impressions on its release date and over 7.6 million views in total between then and now.
