Neto completes Juventus return as Grabara replacement

Juventus have announced the return of goalkeeper Neto on a free transfer following a season-ending injury to on-loan shot-stopper Kamil Grabara. 

Neto has signed a contract until the end of the 2026-27 campaign and returns to Turin nine years after leaving for Valencia. 

The 37-year-old’s arrival comes after Grabara, who was on loan from Wolfsburg, sustained an anterior cruciate (ACL) injury just two days after making his debut for Juventus. 

Grabara assisted Nico Gonzalez’s opener during a 5-0 win over NEC in the Europa League, and he has since had successful surgery to repair the issue. 

But having allowed Michele Di Gregorio and Mattia Perin to leave the club, Juventus have acted quickly to strengthen their goalkeeper options during the international break.

Neto played 22 times across all competitions during his previous stint from 2015 to 2017 with Juventus, keeping 12 clean sheets and winning five major honours. 

Since his exit from Juventus nine years ago, he has gone on to represent Valencia, Barcelona, Bournemouth, Arsenal and most recently, Botafogo. 

Juventus are seventh in Serie A after their first five games of the season, and they return to action after the international break against Cagliari on October 11.
