NERDC warns public against fake funding request for revised basic education curriculum

He reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to maintaining the credibility of its official communications and safeguarding the integrity of Nigeria’s national curriculum development process.

Shehu also assured stakeholders that all verified information regarding the implementation of the Revised Basic Education Curriculum would only be communicated through NERDC’s official channels.

The clarification comes as the Federal Government continues efforts to reform Nigeria’s basic education system through the implementation of new policies aimed at improving learning outcomes.

NERDC recently concluded the review of the Basic Education Curriculum to reflect emerging national priorities, including foundational literacy and numeracy, digital literacy, entrepreneurship, civic education and other 21st-century competencies.

The revised curriculum is scheduled for implementation in the 2026/2027 academic session as part of the Federal Ministry of Education’s broader education reform agenda.

In recent months, the ministry has also introduced several initiatives to strengthen basic education, including nationwide learning assessments, data-driven strategies for addressing the out-of-school children challenge and measures aimed at improving curriculum delivery and the quality of teaching and learning across the country.
