The NBA has come to a verdict after reviewing the film,

There will be no punishment whatsoever assessed to Spurs star Victor Wembanyama for his shove on Jalen Brunson in Game 3 of the NBA Finals.

In the first quarter of the Knicks‘ 115-111 loss, Wembanyama placed his hand on the back of Brunson’s neck and aggressively pushed him to the ground in an act noticed by everyone — except the referees and apparently the league office.

The refs did not blow a whistle in the game and are not doing so after. It’s not the first time in this series that the referees have let something go with their up-and-coming superstar. In Game 2, Wembanyama wrapped his arms around Jose Alvarado and aggressively tossed him out of the way while boxing out for a rebound.

The 22-year-old already has two flagrant foul points this postseason, most notably for elbowing Timberwolves forward Naz Reid in the head during their second-round series. Should Wembanyama have been assessed a flagrant penalty one for his act on Brunson, he would’ve had three points, which would have put him one short of a one-game suspension in the NBA Finals.

Wembanyama had an exceptional Game 3 against the Knicks scoring 32 points on 11/18 from the field with eight rebounds, six assists and three blocks.

The 7-4 superstar will look to carry that momentum into Game 4 at Madison Square Garden, however, he will have an added target on his back with frustrations likely at a high from the fans of the home team.
