NBA insider calls Kings/Hornets Sabonis trade 'pretty unlikely'

· · 1 min read

As the 2026 NBA Draft approaches, many teams are monitoring the Charlotte Hornets, who hold two first-round draft choices, the No. 14 and 18 overall selections. Earlier this week it was said that one of those picks could potentially be used in a trade to acquire Domantas Sabonis from the Sacramento Kings, shoring up Charlotte’s frontcourt.

However, according to NBA insider Sam Amick, the two sides may not come to a deal after all. Amick reported that although the Hornets have “genuine interest,” a deal is “pretty unlikely” as Charlotte would rather hold on to both of their first-round draft choices this June. Either way, the Hornets will be a team to watch come draft night due to their unexpected success last season and their flexibility this summer.
