NBA Draft: Knicks continue spate of trades, deal No. 31 and 55 picks to Rockets after moving out of first round

The New York Knicks aren’t done making trades.

Shortly before the start of the second round of the 2026 NBA Draft, the reigning NBA champions dealt picks Nos. 31 and 55 to the Houston Rockets in exchange for Nos. 39 and 53, as well as the Sacramento Kings‘ second-round pick in 2029, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.

The Rockets proceeded to use the No. 31 pick on Ohio State guard Bruce Thornton, one spot ahead of where Yahoo Sports’ Kevin O’Connor had him ranked on his big board.

The deal comes a day after the Knicks entered the first round with the No. 24 overall pick and left it with five second-round picks and an indeterminate amount of cash.

Mavericks get: No. 25 pick (Sergio De Larrea)

Clearly, the Knicks weren’t done making deals. They’re now up to a net gain of six second-round picks, and we’ll see what happens when we near one they still control.
