Nations League: Cristiano Ronaldo gives one condition to stop playing for Portugal

Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo has given one condition that would make him stop playing for the national team.

The 41-year-old said he would stop representing Portugal once it is confirmed that the team no longer relies on him.

He suggested that the country’s president and football fans still want him to continue playing, hence his decision to remain with the national team.

Speaking ahead of the UEFA Nations League game against Wales, the Al Nassr captain said: “If Portugal no longer want to rely on me, I can leave from today. I have no problem with that.

“Or even the president. When they no longer want to rely on me in the national team, I’ll be the first to speak to them about it.

“If they rely on me, I rely on them. And the Portuguese people rely on me. That’s why I continue playing for the national team.”
