NAMA denies recruitment exercise, alerts public to fraudsters

The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) has denied reports of an ongoing recruitment exercise and warned job seekers against fake employment offers being circulated in its name.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, NAMA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Dr Abdullahi Musa, said fraudsters were impersonating the agency to deceive unsuspecting members of the public.

“NAMA wishes to alert the general public to the activities of unscrupulous individuals impersonating the agency and issuing fraudulent recruitment and appointment letters to unsuspecting members of the public,” the statement said.

The agency described the development as worrying, saying the fake recruitment schemes were designed to exploit innocent job seekers and damage its reputation.

NAMA clarified that it is not conducting any recruitment exercise at the moment.

“Members of the public should not make payments, submit sensitive personal information or enter into any arrangement with anyone claiming to offer jobs on behalf of the agency,” the statement said.

NAMA also urged job seekers to verify any recruitment notice or appointment letter through its official communication channels before taking any action.

“The public is particularly advised to disregard unofficial correspondence, social media messages and representations by unauthorised intermediaries,” the statement added.

The agency reiterated that it does not authorise any individual or third party to collect money or other benefits in exchange for employment.

It further urged anyone who comes across such fraudulent activities to report them to the appropriate authorities, warning that it would not be responsible for losses resulting from dealings with impostors.
