MSU football HC Pat Fitzgerald updates Jordan Hall's injury status

The Pat Fitzgerald era is off to a 2-0 start after Michigan State defeated Eastern Michigan on Saturday afternoon inside of Spartan Stadium, 35-7. The win for the Spartans was convincing and should serve as a strong confidence boost moving forward.

In the win, the Spartans had to do it without the leader of their defense, Jordan Hall. Hall missed the game with an arm injury.

Instead, it was Brady Pretzlaff who was relied upon to fill the big void left by Hall. The redshirt sophomore rose to the occasion, finishing with eight tackles in the game, patrolling the middle of the MSU defense and showcasing his leadership ability at such a young age.

Following the game, Fitzgerald spoke to the media, where he gave an update on Hall’s status:

“Jordan was really close to playing today. The medical team told us late in the week that he was not cleared to play. I expect that in practice tomorrow he would be ready to go.”

Despite the arm injury, it sounds like Spartans were overly precautious with their star linebacker, which may serve as a good thing in the long run. Most importantly, it appears that Hall may be ready to go against Notre Dame next week, reading into Fitzgerald’s comments.

Certainly, the Spartans are hopeful to have the leader of their defense back, to pair next to the growing star in Pretzlaff.
