Monday Night Football game winner: Rams vs. Giants final score last night
“Monday Night Football” started with promise for the New York Giants, but the air quickly left “Big Blue’s” sideline.
Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart‘s night ended early in the first quarter after the Giants quarterback suffered a knee injury on the Giants’ opening drive. Jameis Winston stepped in, but whatever rhythm New York had disappeared with its starting quarterback. The Giants’ offense struggled to find its footing, and the game quickly began slipping away.
On the other sideline, though, an old star looked very much like himself.
Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Davante Adams delivered a vintage performance under the lights, torching the Giants for 195 yards and two touchdowns while quarterback Matthew Stafford repeatedly looked his way. And as if that wasn’t enough nostalgia for one night, Aaron Donald made his long-awaited return to the field after two years away, immediately reminding everyone why his presence changes the complexion of a defense.
The Giants had opportunities to fight back, but without Dart, the offense never truly recovered.
By the fourth quarter, the question was no longer whether New York could mount a comeback. It was whether the Rams would run up the score or not at SoFi Stadium.

Analysis from USA TODAY Sports’ James Williams:
- Davante Adams can still do it. If there was any concern about the Rams’ receiving core after Puka Nacua was ruled out for the game, Davante Adams answered the call. Adams had eight receptions for 195 yards and two touchdowns on 10 targets. The veteran receiver nearly surpassed his single-game career high of 206 yards that he set in 2021 against the Cincinnati Bengals. “He’s a No. 1 to me,” said McVay, who was addressing the thought of Adams being slotted as a secondary option. “Maybe it surprised some people, but we all know what I’m capable of,” Adams said after the game.
- Aaron Donald returns but there’s still room to improve. Donald returned for the Rams after a multi-year absence. He was expected to work on a snap count upon his return, but coach Sean McVay jokingly said that was not necessarily the case. “You try telling him to get off the field,” McVay said during the postgame press conference. Donald returned in the latter half of the offseason with the expectation of playing for a Super Bowl contender that included Myles Garrett and Trent McDuffie on defense. Donald finished the game with three tackles, including one for a loss. McVay felt Donald’s biggest impact was the energy and leadership he brought throughout the evening.

Matthew Stafford is back on track. Stafford put together a strong performance, completing 21 of 30 pass attempts for 320 yards and four touchdowns. He did throw an interception and was sacked once for a nine-yard loss. It was a bounce-back performance for the veteran quarterback, who was limited to 15 of 25 passes for 155 yards and an interception last week against the San Francisco 49ers in Australia. Stafford moved up in the career record books on Monday with his performance. He now has 427 total career touchdowns, the sixth-most in NFL history. He also passed Jim Everett (142) for second-most passing touchdowns in franchise history. “Any time you are a part of history, it’s a blessing and to be here at the end of my career with him is a blessing,” Rams receiver Davante Adams said about Stafford’s accomplishments.

The Giants need better play from Jameis Winston if Dart misses time. Dart went down with a knee injury and the offense appeared to go with it. Jameis Winston and the Giants’ offense put together 182 total yards and never managed to find the end zone. Winston completed 11 of 27 passes for 111 yards and an interception, while running back Cam Skattebo was held to just 36 yards on 12 carries. Winston’s interception proved to be a gut punch, as he threw it directly to Rams defensive back Trent McDuffie. Dart was eventually ruled out for the game and his status for Sunday remains uncertain.
