Mizzou Baseball Hitting Coach Bryson LeBlanc Not Returning to the Program

Mizzou baseball hitting coach Bryson LeBlanc is not returning to the program for a fourth season, providing an immediate opening at the assistant position for the Tigers to fill. The news was first reported by Kendall Rodgers of D1Baseball on Tuesday evening.

LeBlanc came onto Jackson’s staff in June 2023 after serving as an assistant coach for five seasons at UC San Diego, serving as a hitting and third base coach, per MU Athletics. The ties to Mizzou were there for LeBlanc to set up his return to the Tigers program, as he was a member of the Super Regionals-bound team in 2006.

Missouri embraced the small ball and aggressive base running approach offensively under his LeBlanc’s guidance. The Tigers ranked third in the SEC in sac bunts in 2025 and second in 2026. The Tigers were sixth in stolen bases per game in the conference in 2025 and ninth in 2026.

The last three seasons, Mizzou’s offense overall has ranked in the bottom three in batting average, slugging percentage and runs batted in. This coaching change comes fresh off a report on May 22 (also by Rogers) that head coach Kerrick Jackson is expected to return with increased internal support to ramp up to the program.

Per Rogers, the search for the position is wide open. “This is nothing against the grain in the current era of collegiate athletics, in the midst of the transfer portal era,” he said.

Who the Tigers now attract will be interesting, as they recently hired at a new pitching coach before the 2026 season. Drew Dickinson had a highly coveted resume at Virginia where the Cavaliers ranked highly across the board in ERA and strikeouts from 2021-24, per MU Athletics.

This opening will be yet another adjustment for the Tigers program, who seems to have become accustomed to it by now. Two Missouri players have already departed into the portal this offseason.
