For the first time in 25 years, Missouri basketball and Saint Louis officially are going to meet on the hardwood.

Mizzou and SLU each confirmed Monday that they have agreed to play a three-game series beginning this upcoming November. The first game in the series has been tabbed for Nov. 6 at Enterprise Center in St. Louis, which will be the neutral-site venue for all three games.

The tipoff time and TV designation for this year’s Missouri-SLU matchup will be announced at a later date.

Saint Louis confirmed in its news release Monday that the other two games in the series will take place as part of each team’s 2027-28 and 2028-29 season nonconference schedules, which means the Tigers and Billikens will play in each of the next three years.

The game between the in-state rivals had been reported by multiple outlets over the past few weeks, with Jon Rothstein at CBS Sports and College Hoops Today first reporting that it was expected to take place.

It took some time in between those initial reports and Monday’s official confirmation. In the interim, SLU coach Josh Schertz told reporters that the teams were “working through contract logistics.”

The two Show-Me State-based teams have not met on the court since December 2001, when a No. 2-ranked Missouri beat SLU 69-67 at Enterprise Center on a Wesley Stokes game-winner.

With a Nov. 6 game date, it is likely to be Missouri’s second game of the upcoming season, which can begin Nov. 2

“Rivalries are what make college basketball so special, and I couldn’t be more excited for the basketball fans in the state of Missouri, alumni and current students of both institutions to face off with Saint Louis,” Missouri coach Dennis Gates said in a release. “Coach Schertz and I recognized that it has been too many years since the last game and we made it a priority from our very first conversation to get this matchup across the finish line. We look forward to Enterprise Center hosting one of college basketball’s most anticipated games during the opening week.”

“Today’s announcement is not just a win for both basketball programs, but for basketball fans across the city of St. Louis and the state of Missouri as well,” Schertz said in a release. “We know the incredible history of this matchup, and I am glad that Coach Gates agrees that this is the perfect time in both programs’ trajectories to rekindle the series.”

Saint Louis made the second round of the NCAA Tournament in Schertz’s second season at the helm. The Billikens lost to eventual national champion Michigan in the Round of 32, finishing the season with a 29-6 record. SLU plays its home games at Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis.

Missouri has now confirmed three games on its nonconference schedule for the upcoming season, and the Tribune has confirmed four more games via game contracts or sources.

The Tigers have announced a neutral-site matchup against Nebraska on Dec. 12 at T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, and Gates’ team will play Pittsburgh at Mizzou Arena in the ACC/SEC Challenge on Dec. 1.

Missouri will play three more neutral-site games this upcoming season: with Marquette on Nov. 15 in Chicago; Kansas in the Border War on Dec. 6 at T-Mobile Center in Kansas City; and Illinois in the Braggin’ Rights game on a still-to-determined date at Enterprise Center in St. Louis.

Mizzou also will play Howard in the final leg of a three-game series at Mizzou Arena this season.
