Patrick Mahomes and Bo Nix have had their share of battles as AFC West rivals the past few seasons. But it’s clear that the Broncos quarterback as nothing but respect for the three-time Super Bowl champion.

The Broncos rallied from down 11 points in the third quarter to take the lead on Kansas City late in Sunday’s Week 8 matchup in Denver. And when Jonah Coleman crossed the goal line for that go-ahead score, he was giving Mahomes nearly two minutes of game time to work with.

That alone had Nix worried and he told Mahomes about it after the Broncos’ 28-24 win.

In mic’d-up footage from NFL Films, Nix told Mahomes:

“I’ve always admired you. Watching you play … you do a great job. I was scared to death when you got the ball back.”

With that win, Nix improved to 2-2 in his career against Mahomes. He won’t have to worry about seeing Mahomes again this season until a potential playoff matchup.
