Miami Heat consider former LeBron James teammate for final roster spot after Klay Thompson signing

As the Miami Heat build their new roster around Giannis Antetokounmpo, they have their eyes on certain players to fill their final roster spot.

The Heat made a massive trade to land Antetokounmpo that effectively gutted a large portion of their roster. As such, Pat Riley has had to be shrewd with the roster moves he makes.

One of the biggest signings he could have made was landing Klay Thompson. However, another guard with NBA Finals experience might be on the table.

Miami Heat interested in Gabe Vincent return, Nick Richards also targeted

According to reporting from Marc Stein, the Miami Heat have two more roster spots to fill and are eyeing possibly one or even two more signings.

One name that has garnered a lot of traction within circles in Miami is none other than Gabe Vincent. Vincent, of course, was previously on the Heat and played a part in their 2023 run to the NBA Finals.

Just a month later, Vincent signed with the Los Angeles Lakers for an opportunity to play with LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

Unfortunately, Vincent didn’t make the kind of impact both he and the Lakers hoped he would have, as he averaged just 5.6 points, 1.4 assists and 1.1 rebounds while playing 112 games across three seasons.

Another option at guard is Keshad Johnson, who became a free agent after two unremarkable seasons with the Miami Heat.

Johnson played just 48 games for the Heat, where he averaged 3.7 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 0.4 steals while playing about 7-8 minutes a night.

And the final target listed for the Heat was former Phoenix Suns center Nick Richards. During his two seasons with the Suns, Richards averaged 6.7 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 0.7 blocks in 64 games.

The Heat have to choose between making one signing or two signings, as they can begin the season with just 14 players on their roster rather than 15.
