Messi’s retirement: Ronaldo has 146 goals, GOAT debate settled – Piers Morgan
British broadcaster, Piers Morgan, has insisted that Lionel Messi’s retirement from international football has settled the Greatest Of All Time (GOAT) debate with Cristiano Ronaldo.
On Monday, Messi announced his retirement from the Argentina national team.
The Inter Miami forward scored 125 goals for Argentina, while Ronaldo has scored 146 goals for the Portugal national team.
In a post on X, Morgan suggested that Ronaldo is the GOAT ahead of Messi because the Al-Nassr forward has more international goals than the Barcelona legend.
“Lionel Messi quits international football, having scored 125 goals for Argentina, the second-highest number in football history.
“@Cristiano Ronaldo has scored 146 goals for Portugal, the highest in football history. This settles the (GOAT) debate,” Morgan wrote.
