None of the golfers near the top of the leaderboard have teed off yet. J.T. Poston, who leads at 9 under, and Ryan Gerard, who’s one shot behind in second, aren’t scheduled to tee off until 1:40 p.m.

Play was stopped at 11:16 a.m. for “inclement weather” associated with an approaching storm front.

Radar images on Weather.com show a fast-moving storm front approaching Columbus from the Northwest, moving East. Its projected path shows the most intense part of the front should be North of Muirfield Village Golf Club by 12:30 p.m., and tournament officials will issue an update at noon.

Not if it’s just rain. Play continues through rain with two main exceptions:

  • Lightning: Play will be suspended until conditions are ruled to be safe. PGA Tour players can also decide if conditions are unsafe.

  • Pooling: If water builds up on the greens, tee boxes or fairways, play will be suspended until it soaks into the ground or the play areas are cleared.

The PGA Tour directs spectators to pay attention to on-course scoreboards for weather messages. The PGA Tour weather policy has five color-coded stages of alerts:

  • Green: “Inclement weather is not expected today. Enjoy your day!”
  • Yellow: “Be aware: Inclement weather possible.”

  • Orange: “Be prepared: Inclement weather approaching. Prepare to take shelter or exit the premises.”

  • Red: “Take action: Inclement weather. Play suspended. Seek shelter immediately or exit the premises.”

  • Purple: “Course closed. Play suspended for the day. Exit grandstands, temporary structures, and exit the premises.”
