Matthew Golden injury update & more from Packers’ Monday practice report

· · 2 min read

The Green Bay Packers have dropped their first injury report of the week ahead of the Week 8 game against the Carolina Panthers and wide receiver Matthew Golden is on it.

The injury report was an estimation, but it has Golden listed as a non-participant. This marks the second straight week Golden has been on the injury report.

However, this time around, Golden has a new issue, with a foot being added to the shoulder injury he was on the injury report with last week.

We did see Golden get shaken up briefly on Sunday against the Detroit Lions, but he only left for one play. In fact, he would have stayed on the field if he wasn’t forced to sit out for the snap.

This now leaves Golden’s status at least somewhat up in the air just three days out from the Thursday night contest between Green Bay and Carolina.

Along with Golden, defensive tackle Anthony Campbell, linebacker Zaire Franklin, offensive lineman Travis Glover, center Sean Rhyan and defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt were all estimated non-participants.

On the bright side, guard Aaron Banks was estimated as limited, and cornerback Benjamin St-Juste was a full participant.

It was revealed on Monday morning that Franklin, who missed last week’s game after getting accidentally kicked in practice, is dealing with a hairline fracture in his leg, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

The good news is, he is not expected to be placed on injured reserve and may only miss “minimal games,” Rapoport said.

The news isn’t as good for Rhyan, who is believed to have suffered a high-ankle sprain that could keep him out a month or more, Rapoport reported.

The Packers will release two more injury reports, one on Tuesday and another on Wednesday, before they hand out designations on the latter day.
