MarShawn Lloyd says he ‘Hates Notre Dame’ ahead of Lambeau showdown with Wisconsin Badgers

· · 2 min read

MarShawn Lloyd still has the loss to Notre Dame on his mind. During his lone season at USC in 2023, the running back suffered a frustrating defeat against the Fighting Irish, and the memory has clearly stuck with him.

That loss to Notre Dame has stayed with Lloyd long after his time at USC came to an end. Now, with the Fighting Irish set to face Wisconsin at Lambeau Field, the Packers running back has no hesitation about which side he wants to see come out on top. Lloyd will be rooting for the Badgers when they meet Marcus Freeman’s Notre Dame squad in Green Bay on Sunday.

“Yeah, I don’t like it. I don’t like it at all. I hate Notre Dame. I went to USC. So, you know, it’s definitely [there’s] hate there. They beat us when I was there,” Lloyd remarked via Fox 11 News’ Vince Lovergine.

The third-year Packers vet is also looking to make things interesting with guard Aaron Banks, who played his college football at Notre Dame. The Green Bay running back revealed that the two teammates are planning to put a friendly wager on the outcome of Sunday’s game.

“So my teammate, you know, Banks, he went to Notre Dame. So I have to figure something out, maybe like some push-ups or something, if they lose, when they lose, against Wisconsin, so we’ll see.”

The 25-year-old began his collegiate career with South Carolina, spending two seasons with the Gamecocks before moving on to USC for his junior season.

Lloyd’s 2023 campaign at USC produced some impressive numbers, with the running back piling up 820 yards and nine touchdowns on 116 carries over 11 appearances. His performance against Notre Dame was far less memorable, though, as he found the end zone once on eight carries while finishing with 46 rushing yards in USC’s 48 to 20 loss at Notre Dame Stadium.
