Marionville Comets get big win in enemy territory
DIAMOND, MO — The 4-2 Marionville Comets marched into Diamond to take on the winless Wildcats, shining in a 64-27 win.
Marionville proved to be too much on both sides of the ball for the Wildcats, with pressure on offense and defense being a difference maker across all four quarters.
The Comets’ offense pounded the run game, with quarterback Garrisen Smith implementing countless QB keepers, two of which resulted in a touchdown and a successful two-point conversion.
On defense, they would punish the Cats by invading the backfield, forcing Diamond’s Grayden Evans to scramble on countless plays, causing an errant snap, and forcing multiple plays for loss.
An interception from Diamond’s Giancarlo Martinez looked to be a potential turning point for the Wildcats for a moment. However, a subsequent pass interference flag waived the play and returned the ball to the Comets, who continued to charge through on offense.
Diamond will play Pierce City their next time out, with Marionville playing Ash Grove in their next appearance.
