Mariners Game Preview and Discussion, 8/11/26: SEA at NYY

· · 1 min read

The Seattle Mariners have stuck a fork trident in themselves. And yet, they must continue. 43 games stand between Seattle and the finish line. Laying an egg on a crucial and emotionally charged homestand means the Mariners now enter their most daunting road trip of the season needing a swathe of unlikely victories to bring any semblance of expectations back to their season. That starts tonight at Yankee Stadium, where the battered Bronx Bombers lurk in a measured kinship with the M’s in resentment of the surging Tampa Bay Rays.

Series Preview: Mariners (56-63) at Yankees (66-52)

The absence of Aaron Judge and Cody Bellinger has undercut the overwhelming nature of the Yankees lineup, but the arrival of Luis Garcia Jr. from the Nationals at the trade deadline, along with lefty-killer Heliot Ramos and rookie George Lombard Jr., has kept the forces behind Benito Arroz formidable. Seattle will face two lefties this series, starting with Ryan Weathers whose groundball stuff has been highly effective as a back of the rotation arm for New York.
