Commanders quarterback Marcus Mariota has taken his last snap of the preseason.

Mariota started Friday night’s game, but left during the team’s first offensive possession and did not return. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that he has been diagnosed with a sprained MCL and that he will not play again before the regular season.

It’s not clear at this point if he will be healthy enough to serve as Jayden Daniels’s backup for Washington’s Week 1 game against the Eagles.

Sam Hartman and seventh-round pick Athan Kaliakmanis are the team’s other quarterbacks. The Commanders could add another healthy body to get them through final weeks of the preseason.
