Manning Speaks! Texas Longhorns QB opens up wide-ranging interview

It should be a big year for Texas quarterback Arch Manning. The junior from New Orleans was shaky to begin the 2025 season. But as the year progressed, so did Manning. By the end of the season against rival Texas A&M and in the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl against Michigan, Manning showed the potential his pedigree suggests.

This week is the annual Manning Passing Academy and sat down with the assemble press where he talked about a wide range of topics, from 2025 improvement to who controls the music in the lockerroom.

Manning: I think just trying to be myself and uh and not chase everything. Let the game come to me and have some fun out there. I think just not chasing validation, being yourself. I think growing in my faith has helped me a lot. Really just being yourself and you know you can’t really care what other people think.

On putting on weight after foot surgery:

Manning: I had a little foot surgery. I got a little big. I got up to 235. So I lost a little bit. I was getting a little fat.

On who gets “aux” (control of the music) in the locker room:

Manning: Depends. Depends on the day. I was playing some Olivia Dean on Friday. I don’t know if the guys liked it or not.”

On now being the one giving advice to a younger Manning (Peyton’s son Marshall):

Manning: Yeah. I actually had Marshall in one of my drills today. I’m going to get with him this afternoon and kinda talk through some things. But I’m excited to see what he does and I’ll always be there for him.

What he learned from year one as a starter:

Manning: Obviously there’s some up and down. It was a little bit of a rocky start there. But I feel like I learned a lot. Learned a lot about myself. Been trying to get better, keep getting better and move forward and have a good year.

On getting to know new offensive guard Laurence Seymore:

Manning: Laurence, he has a pro mindset. You know, he’s an older guy. A serious dude. He’s a guy you want on your team and we’re happy to have him.
