Manchester United face huge asking price for highly rated 24-year-old Brazilian
Manchester United could revive their interest in Nottingham Forest defender Murillo as they look to strengthen their defensive options ahead of the 2027 summer transfer window.
The Brazil international has been on the Red Devils’ radar for some time, and recent reports suggest the club’s recruitment team still highly regards him. According to Football Insider, however, Forest would demand a huge offer before even considering his departure.
Murillo attracts Manchester United interest
The 24-year-old has established himself as an important figure at the City Ground since arriving at Forest, and his Premier League performances have attracted attention from several high-profile clubs.
Manchester United are understood to be assessing several defensive targets as Michael Carrick plans a major backline overhaul. The club are reportedly prioritising centre-back and left-back additions, with Murillo emerging as one of the names under consideration.
A January move appears unlikely, though, with Forest having little reason to cash in on one of their most important players. The defender also signed a new long-term contract in May, keeping him tied to the club until 2030.

Murillo could command huge fee
Forest’s strong negotiating position means United may have to make a substantial financial commitment if they decide to pursue their interest.
The club are reportedly under no immediate pressure to sell, while Murillo’s importance to Oliver Glasner’s team makes negotiations particularly difficult.
United have previously monitored the defender and could return for him next summer as they continue rebuilding their defence. However, Forest’s valuation and willingness to retain their key players could complicate any potential agreement.
For now, Murillo remains firmly under contract at the City Ground, so United will likely need to make a significant proposal to convince Forest to consider letting their highly rated defender leave.
