Manchester City to demand large fee for Erling Haaland in case of relegation

According to Football Insider, there is growing uncertainty surrounding Erling Haaland’s future at Manchester City, with their sources suggesting it is “inconceivable” that the Norwegian striker would remain at the club if they were relegated from the Premier League.

Despite that possibility, the report claims City would still demand a significant transfer fee for their star forward. Club officials are reportedly determined not to accept a cut-price offer, regardless of any punishment that could affect their league status.

Haaland remains under contract until 2034 after signing a long-term extension in January 2025, putting City in a strong negotiating position. The report also states that neither Haaland nor other senior players have relegation release clauses in their contracts, meaning interested clubs would still need to negotiate directly with City.

Several of Europe’s biggest clubs are said to be monitoring the situation. Real Madrid and Barcelona were mentioned in that aspect even before the verdict against City was made public. Arsenal have been mentioned as well.

The report suggests City believe competition for Haaland’s signature would ensure they receive a substantial fee, even if the striker ultimately decides he wants to continue his career elsewhere.
