The suspect, a resident of Kureken Sani Quarters, Kano, was arrested by operatives of the Panshekara Police Division on September 1, 2026, following credible intelligence received by the command.

The command’s spokesperson, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued to journalists.

According to the statement, the command received a distress report from the Police Mobile Force (PMF), Challawa, at about 7:30 pm, prompting the deployment of operatives who subsequently apprehended the suspect.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Musa allegedly paraded himself as a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) and claimed to have influence over police recruitment, transfers and postings.

The police said the suspect allegedly used edited photographs and artificial intelligence-generated images of himself alongside senior officers of the Nigeria Police Force to give credibility to his claims.

He allegedly used the doctored images and names of senior police officers to deceive victims into believing that he could secure recruitment slots, transfers and postings in exchange for money.

A search of his premises led to the recovery of a pair of black jacket uniforms, two pairs of black shoes, a camouflage uniform, a blue uniform top and N300,000 in cash.

The suspect remains in police custody and will be charged to court upon completion of investigations.
