Lydia Ko has husband on the bag at Evian, jokes he's not getting paid

Lydia Ko has a new face on the bag this week at the Amundi Evian Championship, and he’s not getting paid.

“It’s like, what’s yours is mine, and what’s mine is mine,” joked Ko with husband Jun Chung on an LPGA social post.

Chung reminded his wife that he’s using his vacation days to caddie.

“You should be honored to caddie for a Hall of Famer,” Ko deadpanned.

To say these two have a good time is an understatement.

The 2015 Evian Championship was Ko’s first of three career major titles. She set the record then for the youngest player to ever win a major at 18 years, 6 months and 2 days.

Ko has seven top-10 finishes in 12 Evian appearances. She tied for 15th at the KPMG Women’s PGA at Hazeltine two weeks ago. The Kiwi legend tees off on Thursday with Charley Hull and Jeeno Thitikul at 6:36 a.m. ET.

Chung, a bona fide golf addict, took up golf during the Covid pandemic and had to Google his wife when he met her. They played eight rounds of golf together on their honeymoon. Golf will be part of their family life, and Ko looks forward to that time with future kids.

The roles this week have been reversed in the past as Ko caddied for her husband when he competed on the U.S. Am Tour in Monterey, California, several years ago.

“When he does come out to my tournaments, he’s always trying to help me out,” Ko told Golfweek in 2023. “It was one of the rare times I could do something for him. I was more excited. I was like, you have to play the two days. He would push his push cart down one of the holes to help me out, and I was like, you’re stealing my job right now. I’m your caddie.”
