Louisville, Kentucky send 30 athletes to NCAA track championships

The NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships are set to begin June 10 in Eugene, Oregon. The Bluegrass State will be well represented on the West Coast, with a total of 32 track and field athletes between Louisville and Kentucky headed there to compete for a title.

The Cardinals set a program record with 14 championship qualifiers, while the Wildcats advanced 18 individual athletes to the national meet, including high jumper Kemarah Howard, who was named SEC Freshman of the Year.

Louisville’s contingent is highlighted by a pair of multi-event qualifiers. Elsingi Kipruto earned spots in both the men’s 5,000-meter and 10,000-meter races, while Roman Kuleshov qualified in both the long jump and triple jump.

Alongside Howard, Kentucky also features several athletes with title aspirations. SEC champion Janet Jepkemboi Amimo advanced in the women’s 800 meters, and Hannah Douglas will make her fourth appearance at the NCAA Championships in the 400 meters, adding veteran experience to Kentucky’s national contingent.

The NCAA Track and Field Championships will take place from June 10-13. Events will be streamed on ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPN+, which can all be found on the ESPN app.
