Lonzo Ball makes driver revelation about LaMelo Ball after car crash controversy
LaMelo Ball got into some hot water about his driving earlier in 2026, and now Lonzo Ball reveals what has changed in the aftermath of the controversy.
LaMelo Ball is about to start a new chapter in his NBA career with the Minnesota Timberwolves. After spending his entire career so far with the Charlotte Hornets, he has teamed up with Anthony Edwards.
Melo’s play on the court, and his personality can both be described as colourful. And unfortunately, so can his car collection and the many stories about his driving.
During his time in Charlotte, the younger Ball brother was involved in a car crash. This occurred in February of 2026 and led to many complaints about reckless driving. Now his older brother Lonzo has explained what’s changed.
Lonzo Ball says LaMelo got a driver after getting into ‘a lot of situations on the road’
NBA players need to be quite careful in terms of how they behave in the public space. Unfortunately for LaMelo, his driving has been noticed and cast in a negative light.
In a podcast appearance with Michael Porter Jr., Lonzo admitted that his younger brother needed to take things a little easy and explained the solution he’s found for some of the issues.
“He’ll buy a million-dollar car and then just immediately f*** it up,” Lonzo said. When Porter Jr. asked him about Melo’s car accidents, Zo clarified.
“He actually doesn’t get in accidents, but he has a lot of situations on the road, yes. Well, he did get into an accident recently.
“Well not recently, but that s*** that went viral. Yeah, he do need to chill out. He got a driver now, though.”
The 25-year-old has moved to a team with championship aspirations now, and he’ll have to lock in off the court to fit in, too. It seems he’s already taken some steps in that direction.
