Liverpool’s late Malo Gusto attempt fails

· · 1 min read

According to French journalist Fabrice Hawkins, Liverpool made a late effort to sign Malo Gusto from Chelsea, but the London Blues were not interested in sanctioning a temporary move.

Liverpool’s squad looks extremely thin when it comes to the right-back position, with Jeremie Frimpong continuously underwhelming both in attack and in defence, and Conor Bradly still having a long way to go to return to action after suffering a serios knee injury which required surgery. There is the possibility of Ronald Araujo playing there, but that would in turn weaken the centre-back selection, which doesn’t look too good either even with the Barcelona loanee.

Gusto was seen as an excellent short-term option, boasting sufficient Premier League experience, but Liverpool wouldn’t commit any significant funds towards that transfer mere hours before the closing of the window, and Chelsea insisted that only an offer of a permanent move for the 23-year-old would be considered.
