Liverpool line up Felix Nmecha as Scott alternative
According to CaughtOffside, Liverpool are considering a move for Felix Nmecha as they assess alternatives to primary midfield target Alex Scott.
Liverpool apparently remain strong admirers of Bournemouth star Scott, alongside Chelsea, but concerns over the midfielder’s valuation could force the Reds to look elsewhere. Bournemouth are reportedly seeking more than £100 million for the England international, with some estimates suggesting a fee closer to £110-115 million would be required.
As a result, Liverpool are exploring other options, and Borussia Dortmund’s Nmecha has emerged as a good alternative. The Germany international has previously attracted interest from several Premier League clubs, including Manchester United and Chelsea, but stayed in Germany and later signed a new contract with Dortmund.
Despite that extension, Liverpool are continuing to monitor the 26-year-old closely. The report states that recruitment staff at Anfield view Nmecha as an underrated player capable of making an immediate impact in Andoni Iraola’s squad.
Nmecha is also believed to be open to a return to English football after spending 12 years in Manchester City’s academy. While Dortmund insist he is not for sale, the report suggests a bid in the region of €90 million could test the Bundesliga club’s resolve.
