Deportivo Cali manager Rafael Dudamel has also confirmed that the player is close to a move to a European club. However, details are yet to be finalised, and he has refused to name the club.

“Negotiations are advanced for Matías Orozco to go to European football. There are details still to be completed,” Dudamel said.

“That’s why he, together with his family, his agents, the board and coaching staff, agreed that he could play today. We knew there was a lot of risk, but he also really wanted to be part of the team.”

It remains to be seen whether Liverpool can get the deal across the line.

Orozco is a tremendous talent with a bright future, and he could develop into an important player for Liverpool with the right guidance. The 18-year-old is a defensive midfielder, and Liverpool need someone in that role. Even though he might not be ready to make an impact in the first team just yet, they could groom him into a starter in the coming seasons.

Liverpool have recently signed another Colombian talent, Samuel Martinez, and it remains to be seen whether they can wrap up the move for the 18-year-old in the coming days.

Orozco could be a long-term asset

The opportunity to play for Liverpool will be exciting for the youngster. They are one of the biggest clubs in the world, and they have an impressive track record of nurturing young players.

They could help Orozco fulfil his potential in the coming seasons.
