Lions announce rookie WR Kendrick Law suffered season-ending injury

The Detroit Lions shared some unfortunate news on Thursday.

lions/334" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Lions head coach Dan Campbell revealed that rookie wide receiver Kendrick Law suffered a torn ACL during Tuesday’s OTA practice in a noncontact drill.

“Hate it for him,” Campbell said. “The kid was doing a good job. But, it’s part of it. It’s a harsh reality. He’ll get it out of the way early, have his whole career in front of him.

“Hate to start with that, that’s a bit of a negative, but everybody else is doing good. Everybody else is improving.”

The Lions traded up to draft Law out of Kentucky in the fifth round with pick No. 168. A 5-foot-11, 203-pound receiver, Law led Kentucky in both catches (53) and receiving yards (540) in 2025. He had three touchdowns with the Wildcats last year.

Law began his college career at Alabama, signing with the Crimson Tide as a four-star signee in the 2022 class, per 247Sports. The Shreveport, La., native caught 33 passes for 343 yards with one score across three seasons while with the Crimson Tide.

In his college career, Law caught 86 passes for 883 yards and four touchdowns.

Law was viewed as a potential Kalif Raymond replacement. During his collegiate career, Law returned 32 kickoffs for 710 yards (22.9 average). Law’s 23.8 yards per kickoff return average ranked fourth in the SEC last year.
