Edelman immediately burst into laughter and rushed to clarify his intended football context. “Playing in dome stadiums!” Edelman shouted, saving the broadcast segment from absolute social media chaos.

Once the obvious double entendre settled, St. Brown offered a genuine receiver’s perspective. Pass catchers naturally favor indoor, climate-controlled environments where outside elements like heavy wind, rain, and freezing temperatures cannot disrupt crisp route running or football tracking downfield.

For Detroit, operating inside Ford Field provides a massive competitive advantage. Lions quarterback Jared Goff historically elevates his statistics when playing indoors, and St. Brown continuously reaps those rewards as Goff’s primary weapon.

That dome turf advantage showed up during Week 3 when Detroit protected home ground in a thrilling 31-24 victory over the New York Jets. St. Brown spearheaded the aerial attack, adding another notch to his explosive 2026 season. Through Detroit’s first three games, the standout receiver has already racked up 23 receptions for 228 yards and five touchdowns, setting a blistering pace for the offense.

Detroit’s high-octane unit clearly flourishes under a roof, making Edelman’s hilarious slip surprisingly relevant from an offensive perspective. St. Brown and Goff remain one of the most lethal pairings in football on fast indoor turf. Just make sure to explicitly include the word “stadium” whenever questioning St. Brown about his preferred playing environment going forward.
