Lingering injury forces Jason Day to withdraw ahead of 2026 3M Open

Jason Day has withdrawn ahead of the 2026 3M Open due to a back injury.

The 13-time PGA Tour winner also withdrew from the U.S. Open due to the lingering back injury, which has hampered Day throughout his career. He missed the cut at the Open Championship and finished T-55 at the Travelers between major starts, but he won’t tee it up this week at TPC Twin Cities in Blaine, Minnesota.

Day sits 72nd in the FedEx Cup standings with three events left in the PGA Tour’s regular season. Only the top 70 players make the first playoff event, the FedEx St. Jude Championship.

Day opened the season with a runner-up finish at the American Express, but his best finish since a T-12 at the Masters was T-38 at the Cadillac Championship.

Charley Hoffman replaced Day in the field and will tee off at 1:55 p.m. ET Thursday.
