RB Leipzig head coach Martin Demichelis could not confirm whether Yan Diomande will stay at the club, as “in football, anything can happen”.

Diomande’s transfer saga has been ongoing since the World Cup, but has recently taken a different turn.

Real Madrid have reportedly seen a €100m bid rejected by Leipzig for the Ivory Coast international, who has also gained interest from Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain.

Reports suggest Liverpool have also had a similar bid rejected for Diomande, while PSG are said to be the 19-year-old’s preferred destination.

Leipzig continued their pre-season campaign with a 1-0 win over Ingolstadt, though Diomande was absent after representing his country at the World Cup.

Following the match, Demichelis was asked about Diomande’s future after Leipzig previously stated the teenager would not be leaving this summer.

“He remains an RB Leipzig player,” Demichelis told Sky Sport Germany.

“But in football, anything can happen.”

Diomande directly contributed to 20 goals (12 goals, eight assists) in 33 Bundesliga games in 2025-26, a tally bettered only by Harry Kane (41), Michael Olise (34), Luis Diaz (29), Deniz Undav (25) and Christoph Baumgartner (21).

The winger, however, completed the most dribbles (118 – 50 more than any other player) and take-on-ending carries (104 – 29 more than any other player).

He also starred for Ivory Coast at this summer’s World Cup.

Diomande became only the second African player on record (from 1966) to complete 10+ dribbles (10) and create 10+ chances (10) in a single World Cup group stage, after South Africa’s Quinton Fortune in 2002.
