LEGO Officially Enters The Monsterverse With 5,363-Piece Godzilla
Thanks to The LEGO Group and LEGO Ideas, Godzilla is officially getting the brick-built treatment with a size and scale worthy of pop culture’s most famous kaiju. Modeled after the leading Titan in Monsterverse, the upcoming model is a must-have for fans of the King of Monsters (and frankly, anyone with a LEGO City collection).
As the first-ever Godzilla-themed model from The LEGO Group, the upcoming set couldn’t be released at a better time with the holidays quickly approaching. Set to go on sale this Black Friday (November 27th), the new model has over 5,000 pieces and is nearly 2 and 1/2 ft. tall. Combined with an exciting gift-with-purchase offer, here’s everything we know about LEGO’s impressive new Godzilla model.
LEGO Ideas’ New Godzilla Set Should Come With Its Own Shelf
Officially titled LEGO Ideas Godzilla (21375), the upcoming set is by far the largest LEGO Ideas model ever released, coming in at 5,363 pieces total. The finished King of the Monsters stands an impressive 27.5 inches (70 cm) tall when the head is lifted, and the model’s epic Heat Ray is attached. The model is based on an original design submitted through the LEGO Ideas program by Fan Designer Matthew Esposito, having gone through a submission process that took over 2 years, including receiving the 10,000 votes needed to be placed under review by The LEGO Group.
Featuring textured scales, blue dorsal fins, and a tail that can be built and posed in either direction for convenient display options, LEGO’s new Godzilla set is quite the sight to behold, an obviously massive centerpiece for any collection. Priced at $449.99, the upcoming set geared towards adult collectors officially goes on sale November 27th at 12 am EST, exclusively through LEGO stores and online at LEGO.com. Collectors will also receive a very cool gift-with-purchase (while supplies last): a 359-piece model featuring the Godzilla logo, a large kaiju footprint, and even a fun nod to Mothra.
It’s A Great Time To Be A Godzilla Fan

The brand-new LEGO announcement comes at a very exciting time for Godzilla fans. Not only is November 3rd annually celebrated as Godzilla Day (the anniversary of the original Godzilla (Gojira) film), but special IMAX screenings of Godzilla Minus Zero are happening today as well, ahead of the sequel’s wide release later this week on November 6th. While the new LEGO Godzilla is inspired by Legendary and Warner Bros.’ version from the Monsterverse, Toho’s version featured in Godzilla Minus One and Zero is just as much a force to be reckoned with (if not more so).
Meanwhile, it was recently revealed that Apple is reportedly considering a third season of the Monsterverse’s Monarch: Legacy of Monsters series, and the next major Monsterverse crossover movie is expected to release next year with Godzilla x Kong: Supernova, another epic opportunity to see the two major Titans join forces against a major cosmic threat known as SpaceGodzilla. The 40th Godzilla movie and 14th King Kong movie will star Dan Stevens, Kaitlyn Dever, Jack O’Connell, Alycia Debnam-Carey, Matthew Modine, Delroy Lindo, and the late Sam Neill in one of his final roles.
Between Godzilla Minus Zero, Godzilla x Kong: Supernova, and the potential for another season of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, the Godzilla franchise was already firing on all cylinders, not to mention all the great comic book crossovers that have been released recently, like DC’s Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong or Marvel’s Godzilla: Infinity Roar. Now, we’ve got the first-ever LEGO Godzilla model releasing this month as well, an epic celebration of the kaiju’s impressive legacy (could King Kong get the brick-built treatment next?).
