Latest update on Patriots WR Kayshon Boutte trade talk

New England Patriots wideout Kayshon Boutte is still very much on the trade block, even though he’s had a strong training camp, according to Boston Sports Journal’s Mike Giardi.

Boutte looked like one of the best players on the field through the early training camp practices. His impressive showing comes on the heels of a season where he hauled in 33 catches for 551 yards and six touchdowns.

There were questions about his role with the team after the Patriots signed Romeo Doubs in free agency and traded for A.J. Brown. Those roster moves basically pushed Boutte further down the wide receiver depth chart while in the final year of his contract.

Giardi wrote:

“But before you get carried away, per league sources, Boutte remains very much available for trade, as has been the case the entirety of this offseason. And even though he once again publicly professed his desire to remain in New England, Boutte would welcome a bigger opportunity elsewhere.”

A bigger opportunity would give Boutte a chance to put up better stats and increase his overall value ahead of 2027 free agency.

NFL insider Albert Breer noted in a previous report that the Patriots were trying to do right by Boutte. Doing right by the player might mean shipping him elsewhere when a worthy enough offer finally comes across the table.
