Jewell Loyd now feels firmly at home with the Las Vegas Aces, and has even managed to forge a special bond with a young fan.

Jewell Loyd has enjoyed a phenomenal WNBA career. In nine years with the Seattle Storm, Loyd made the All-Star Game on six occasions, while also winning two championships.

Having joined the Aces in 2025, she added another title to her resume the very same season. Even though her production is not what it used to be, she is settling in comfortably in Las Vegas.

Loyd recently spoke about a friendship that she has developed with a young fan named Piper. The youngster has cheered for Loyd since her arrival, and it has led to a close bond.

In the age of social media, fan interaction has changed a lot for sports stars. They are subjected to a near 24-hour barrage from fans, and a lot of it isn’t always positive.

But Loyd has managed to find something unique in Las Vegas. She explained how she ended up becoming friends with a young fan named Piper.

“I was like, I need to introduce myself to her because she’s yelling my name. She’s encouraging me all the time,” Loyd said, as reported by KTNV Las Vegas.

“I was like, ‘OK, I need to make eye contact with her,’ and ever since then, we’ve kind of been inseparable. She just stays so positive regardless, so it puts a lot of things into perspective that, it’s way bigger than basketball.

“It’s a great reminder that when things are a little stressed, I always try to find her, I’ve seen a lot of fans all over the world, some of them you obviously remember, but Piper is someone you never forget and that’s something I’ll always have with me no matter where I go.”

With all the controversy currently surrounding the WNBA, this wholesome story is a lovely and needed respite. As the league continues to grow, these are the fans who will take it to greater heights.
