LaLiga: 'His form continues to decline' - Colino on Ademola Lookman after Atletico's 1-0 win
Super Eagles forward, Ademola Lookman has once again been criticised following another disappointing performance in Atletico Madrid’s 1-0 win against Deportivo de La Coruna.
The club’s insider, Jesus Colino, expressed concerns regarding the Nigerian striker’s deteriorating form after the game.
Lookman was less effective throughout the La Liga match and was replaced by manager Diego Simeone at the end of the first half.
This marked the third time across four La Liga fixtures in which the Super Eagles player was withdrawn before the second half, heightening the tension regarding his current form.
Throughout his 45 minutes in the game, the Nigerian failed to register any shot attempts or create any scoring opportunities.
In his assessment of Lookman’s performance for AS, Colino offered a critical evaluation.
He said, “He was the Atletico player who touched the ball the least, and in Deportivo’s half, all but one of his passes were backwards.
“He didn’t attempt a single dribble either. Substituted at halftime. His form continues to decline.”
Lookman’s domestic performance challenges stand in stark contrast to his commendable European competition contributions, having netted against Manchester United and subsequently providing an assist in Atletico Madrid’s 1-1 draw with VfB Stuttgart.
