Lake Mary Little League Softball World Series start time, TV channel vs Washington

For the second straight year, Lake Mary Little League opens the festivities at the Little League Softball World Series. Today, the Florida champions take on Snohomish, Washington, in the first of four games to kick-start the 12-team global softball tournament.

Lake Mary earned the return trip to Greenville, North Carolina, by sweeping all four games at the Southeast regional. Chloe Cheek pitched complete games in three of those games, surrendering just six runs (four earned) over 19 innings while striking out 23. The Florida girls piled up 21 runs over their first two games before squeaking out two tight thrillers to finish off the regional, with Avery Little smacking an extra-inning walk-off two-run double and Callie Ousley driving in all three runs in the clincher.

Florida’s opponents from Washington also went undefeated in their three regional games. Madison Locke is their ace, pitching two shutouts with just three hits, five walks and a whopping 22 strikeouts. She also contributed at the plate, going 5 for 7 with two runs and three RBIs. First baseman Avery Calamusa drove in three runs in Washington’s 11-3 victory for the championship.

One of the teams will see its winning streak snapped today, but it won’t be the end of their LLSWS run. The winner will play again Monday, while the loser faces an elimination game Tuesday. The Lake Mary baseball team took advantage of the double-elimination format when they won the title in 2024. If the softball team joined them as champions, it would be Florida’s first softball championship since 1996.

Lake Mary is a suburban city in Central Florida’s Seminole County, about 20 miles north of Orlando. In 2024, the team from Lake Mary became the first Florida team to win baseball’s Little League World Series.
