Lagos driver remanded over alleged abduction, defilement of 14-year-old

An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday ordered the remand of a 34-year-old driver, Segun Falola, at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre over the alleged abduction and defilement of a 14-year-old girl.

The Chief Magistrate, C.M. Kushanu, did not take Falola’s plea after he was brought before the court on charges bordering on abduction and defilement.

Kushanu ordered that the defendant be remanded at the correctional facility until September 30, pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions, DPP.

The prosecutor, Adegoke Ademigbuji, told the court that the alleged offences occurred between April 3 and April 24 in the Alakuko area of Lagos State.

Ademigbuji alleged that Falola abducted the teenage girl while she was travelling from Alakuko to Agege.

He further alleged that the defendant lured the girl into a house, where he sexually assaulted her.

The prosecutor told the court that Falola was subsequently arrested after the victim’s phone was tracked to Oyo State, where the teenager was allegedly being kept.

The defendant, who resides at 1 Adepoju Street, Alakuko, Lagos, is facing charges under Sections 137 and 268 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The court adjourned the matter until September 30 for further proceedings.
