Nigerian leaders have been urged to bridge the gap between policy formulation and implementation in the country.

The Director of Publication, Kwara State House of Assembly, KWHA, Basirat Saka, who made the call, stated that Nigeria does not lack ideas but struggles with their execution.

She made the call in Abuja during her induction as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Information and Strategy Management, CIISM.

According to her, “formulation without implementation is hallucination”, adding that truth defines the information and strategy management profession.

Saka noted that Nigeria had formulated numerous policies but had struggled to translate them into tangible outcomes.

“As a new fellow of this Institute, my goal is to close the execution gap. I believe that information without action is noise, as strategy without execution is fantasy,” she said.

Saka urged leaders to shift from presentations and committees to measurable results, stressing the need for clear responsibilities, timelines, costs and performance indicators.

“Let us build the discipline of Who does What, By When, and at What Cost? Let us embrace data, accountability, and consequences,” she added.

Saka, in the same vein, noted that the fellowship came with a profound sense of responsibility.
