Krasnodar turns down Jadon Sancho despite winger’s interest in move

Krasnodar has turned down the opportunity to sign Jadon Sancho despite the winger being willing to move to Russia, according to Andrey Pankov of Championat. The 26-year-old remains a free agent following his departure from Manchester United at the end of last season.

Pankov reports that Sancho was offered to the Russian club, which decided against pursuing him. The discussions never reached an advanced stage, and the report gives no reason for Krasnodar’s decision or details of any proposed salary.

The development leaves Sancho still searching for a permanent home after three successive loan spells. United confirmed his exit in June, bringing an end to a spell that had included temporary returns to regular football with Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea and Aston Villa.

His most recent season offered a mixed case for potential employers. Sancho made 39 appearances for Villa during a campaign that ended with fourth place in the Premier League and the Europa League trophy. He scored only once, against Fenerbahce in January, leaving questions about his goal output despite the team’s success.

There were reminders of his creative ability. In March, he set up John McGinn against Lille in Villa’s Europa League last-16 victory, earning praise from his captain. Sancho also led the side for chances created and dribbles in that match, showing the contribution he could make when given a start.

His search has already produced links beyond Europe’s biggest leagues. Earlier this month, SoccerNews covered a reported approach from Dubai-based Arabian Falcons, a third-tier club coached by Jonjo Shelvey. That report concerned contact with his representatives and did not establish a completed transfer.

Sancho’s availability without a transfer fee removes one potential cost for interested clubs, but Krasnodar’s decision closes another possible route back into competitive football. Championat reports no agreement or advanced negotiations, leaving the winger’s next destination unresolved.
