The Los Angeles Dodgers are one of the best international scouting teams in professional baseball, especially in Asia. 

But the Dodgers missed out on an opportunity to sign a two-way prospect.

Recently, their NL West rivals, the Arizona Diamondbacks, swooped in and signed a highly regarded two-way player from South Korea. 

“The Arizona Diamondbacks and Korean two-way player Junsang Eom are finalizing an agreement for the current 2025–26 international signing period,” Francys Romero of BeisbolFR wrote on X.

“Eom is widely regarded as the No. 2 prospect for the upcoming KBO Draft.” 

The KBO is an abbreviation for the Korea Baseball Organization. 

Amateur players have until December 15 to sign a professional contract with Major League organizations during the international signing period. 

Eom can reach 95 mph with his fastball on the mound and also plays shortstop in the field.

Of course, comparisons to Shohei Ohtani will always be made when a two-way prospect is mentioned. It’s important to remember that Eom is still just a teenager and will need years of development. 

Still, it’s an exciting moment for the Diamondbacks and someone fans will surely be keeping tabs on as he progresses in the minors.
